Connect & Create Your Bright Insight

Helen Liang is an Australian Registered Social Worker and play therapist passionate about supporting children and families through emotional connection, safe relationships, and holistic wellbeing.

She believes that every child and every family carries inner strengths, goodness, and the potential for growth. Rather than focusing only on behaviours, Helen seeks to understand the emotional meaning beneath a child’s actions — their needs, inner experiences, nervous system responses, and longing for connection.

Guided by genuineness, congruence, and unconditional acceptance, Helen deeply values authentic therapeutic relationships and believes that healing and growth can emerge through safe, consistent, and emotionally connected experiences.
To Helen, therapy is not about ā€œfixingā€ children. It is about helping children and families reconnect with their sense of safety, confidence, emotional expression, resilience, and inner capacity for growth.

Helen integrates child-centred play therapy, emotional intelligence approaches, mindfulness, nervous system awareness, relational neuroscience, and family-oriented perspectives in her work. She understands therapy as a process that gently supports emotional development, nervous system regulation, and the brain’s natural neuroplasticity.
She is also deeply interested in lifestyle medicine and holistic wellbeing, recognising the powerful connection between the body, brain, emotions, relationships, and environment. Helen believes that nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and daily lifestyle patterns can significantly influence emotional wellbeing, mental health, and children’s overall development. This ongoing passion for learning supports her in providing a more holistic and integrative approach when working with children and families.

As a bilingual therapist working across both Eastern and Western cultural contexts, Helen deeply understands the unique experiences, pressures, and intergenerational dynamics many multicultural and immigrant families navigate. She is passionate about creating a culturally sensitive and emotionally safe space where children, parents, and families can feel understood, supported, and connected.

To Helen, each therapy session is more than a conversation — it is a gentle dialogue with the nervous system, the developing brain, and the child’s inner world.
